MP backs biodiesel tax break campaign

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a campaign to keep tax breaks for business who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel presently benefit from a 20p differential however that is due to end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting the UK sustainable .

Mr George stated "a number of small companies in Cornwall currently earn money from used cooking oil".

He included: "In order to be able to get this type of market going it does need just a little bit of lift which is available in the form of tax inescapable."

Biodiesel is a blend of conventional diesel, rapeseed and vegetable oils.
